The Bothies

The Loch Ken Eco Bothies lie just south of the Galloway Activity Centre on the beautiful shores of Loch Ken.  There is an abundance of things to do nearby that include activities, nature walks, dark skies, and wildlife.  The Eco Bothies are also within the UNESCO Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere.  For more info on things to do please see our things to do page for further information.

We have Three Bothies, and each is unique in its setting, furnishing and size.  We offer a 2-4 Berth (the "Red Squirrel"),  a 4-6 Berth (the "Red Kite") and our newest two Berth romantic retreat the Otter Eco Yurt.

Well behaved dogs are allowed at all the bothies.

The Bothies are off-grid modular pods designed and manufactured locally by Architect Sam Booth of "Echo" Eco Houses. The Eco Pods were featured on series 1 of Channel 4's "George Clarke’s amazing spaces" program. We are proud to say that our two Bothies on the banks of LochKen are Sam’s first off the production line.
